Also if in country best not to leave your car to look for help in a blizzard. Because you can freeze to death. This is why you need the above items. If you should get stuck you may need to keep the exhaust clean of snow to keep the car running.
OMG! I’m afraid my car doesn’t have enough space in its trunk for all this stuff
you can get kits size of a duffle bag. I never leave the city without one.
Thank you Rick! I read your message and felt like I am in snowy magic fairy tail. You charged me by the wonderful spirit of New Year holiday.
Let’s write to Santa. We still have time
Volodymyr- tell your wife i have lived in Winnipeg for 45 years, i have not froze to death. I still have all my fingers, all my toes. and my ears. We have a great number of Africans living here. Winnipeg has the largest Philippe community. You have a greater chance of dying in a car accident then freezing to death. If you look at The World Health Organization countries by life expectancy. Canada is number 11 at 82.5 years. Ukraine is 122 with 71 years. Not only will your wife not freeze to death. She can live a longer life by 10 years.
Canadian tire. any CAA office. can make yourself. What i use the most from my kit is the shovels, booster cables and the tow ropes. Not because i get stuck, but to help other people in trouble. it is very easy to slid of a slippery road into the ditch.
Probably you have a big car. I can’t imagine how my Dodge Neon can help other people )
Yes i Do have an SUV, But even if did not., someone with a truck might come by and not have the tow rope. 99% of the time when you see someone go off the road you will see the cars behind stop to offer assistance.
Thank you, Rick . You persuaded me to buy a rear tow hook and tow ropes. My car does not have
a tow hook, so I ordered it on ebay
No problem Roman i hope you will never need it. It is kinda like insurance. A piece of mind.Personally i have needed to be pulled out around 5 times. And I have helped pull. push and dig out many cars.
I spend 100 km to get work and head back home. That’s why I must have it.
Here is a link why they suggest to keep the items in your vehicle.
http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/11/19/buffalo-snow-photos-weather-storm-pictures_n_6186604.html Granted it was in Buffalo New York, It has Happened inToronto. And it happened here April 5-6 — Worst recorded blizzard in Winnipeg this century. Total accumulated snowfall: 48 cm (Friday to Tuesday). Previous record: 1966 — 38.1 cm snowfall. Duration of storm: 24 hours, Average wind speed: 60km/h, gusting as high as 85 km/h.
P.S. Roma if you have a long drive and weather is poor drive slow.
OMG. So, not only contry roads may be dangerous in winter, right?
heck no city roads too. but in the city odds are you can walk to someones house. or get home before you are completely snowed in. Few years ago my friend in Toronto was stuck on the 401 highway for over 12 hours. But dont be scared. just be cautious and use common sense. And we will see how the roads are this winter.
